To all parents and carers of children at Southville Nursery, Infant and Junior Schools
Welcome back to a new school year - we hope that you have all had a happy and relaxing Summer break.
Each school will write to parents separately about things happening this term, However, there is one shared project that all parents need to be aware of.
The Governing Bodies of each school have been very concerned for some time now about the safety of the children while on the school site in relation to the car park. Despite numerous requests, parents have continued to use the car park at times when there is a lot of children and parents walking through. There have been a few incidents where children have come close to being hurt.
The Governing Bodies of both schools have come together and agreed that the only solution is to have automated gates at the top of the drive, and as you will already have seen, this work has been carried out during the summer holidays. Once these gates are fully functional, parents will no longer be able to drive into the car park at any time of day unless in an emergency. We trust that everyone will appreciate that this has been done in the interest of your childrens safety, and will co-operate fully.
This is a copy of a letter given to all children at school on September 2nd - it was signed by both Chairs of Governors and both Headteachers
We hope that this site will give you lots of useful and interesting information about our school and that you will visit it frequently to see further things that have been going on. As you take a pictorial tour of the school, or look at the children’s pages, you will get a feel for this vibrant and happy place of learning. You will be introduced to the children, staff and governors and find out about our policies, curriculum, facilities and standards.
